  • A co worker threw away my paycheck, can the company give me another one?

Best answer: Any company that pays by paper check is legally REQUIRED to have a process to replace lost or damaged checks. It may take until the next payday, but some means to get your pay MUST exist.
Contact whoever handles payroll to find out what the process is for your employer.

I had a child with a woman who has previous children as well from a past relationship. About a week into finding out she was pregnant she moved back with her previous boyfriend. She is also on state benefits and I am not. After the birth she was working two jobs, but as soon as the child support kicked in she quit both jobs. I am now paying child support, and although I have no problems supporting my kid, I feel as if I ve been duped/trapped. I feel like it should be part of her parental duty to at least try to find work and provide financially. Is there anything I can do legally to adverse this?

Mind you, the house is otherwise empty/unfurnished. I'm not sure if it was left there by the previous tenants or something. We are moving out and I'm wondering if I would be allowed to take it or if it's best to leave it? I worry if it is from a previous tenant, and I leave it here, they might think it was ours and deduct from our bond under the excuse of leaving items behind?

I am a 22 y/o (female) working as a bartender in Queens, NY. On weekends, we close at 4am, however that night my boss called me around 3:30am telling me to stay because a customer will be coming. (She had already left and I was the only one working along with another coworker) The customer did come in and ended up staying until 5:40am....around that time an unknown man came into the store (doors were unlocked) and robbed my customer, my coworker, and I at gunpoint. He pointed his gun at my back and asked me where they keep the money. He robbed all of our personal belongings. I believe that this is my boss' fault, she made me stay and work "overtime". We all should have left as it was closing time, but I believe that my boss only cared about making profit and running her business. she never turns on the cameras in our bar. She neglected me as an employee. What are my rights? I really need help. I am traumatized and feel unsafe leaving my house now. I need to know what I can do. My boss did not compensate in any way.

My aunt passed away over a month ago. She has a trust with her retirement accounts and life insurance. Her house and everything else will go through probate. We want to keep the water and heat on at her house, so the pipes do not burst, there are no break-ins, etc. Can we just leave those accounts in her name and keep making the payment until probate is finished, or do we need to report her death and do something else? Also, she has already incurred some late fees on her credit cards, but we cannot cancel them without proof of executorship, and there is no executor since probate has not started. Should I pay her credit card bills and other bills (totaling about $1000), so late fees/penalties do not keep being charged, or do I wait until probate starts? Thank you so much!
