  • Atheists, since science, by definition, doesn't prove things but a sceintist's job is to disprove the work of a fromer scientist. So why is?

Best answer: Scientist do not claim to disprove any deity. A negative can not be proven. There is always the possibility, however improbable, that a thing/being exists somewhere outside of out awareness. Atheists have one thing in common and one thing only. We do not believe in god or Gods. Most feel justified in thinking this way because there is no verifiable evidence to suggest it does exist. Agnostic atheists leave some room for doubt/possible discovery of such proof in the future, saying it can not be known with current available data. Believers in gods seem to get hung up on two issues surrounding atheists non-belief. First, that a reasonable person must prove that God does not exist to disbelieve. (ie, The burden of proof is with the recipient of a claim.) Second, that the existence of the universe does prove the existence of their God.

In the case of the former, simply note that claims of "huffalumps" do not obligate Milne's readers to begin searching for anti-huffalump proof. This is true despite the fact that they are presented in a book. The, "It's in the Bible" claim is often given by Christians as proof of what is written within.Really? Theists seem to make these leaps away from their own common sense but, only when defending the existence of their god, and then marvel at the audacity of atheists to be consistent in our application of natural laws to all of our beliefs. Call that science if you wish but, man has been surviving using these rules longer than the discipline was labeled as such.

The second point," since there is "all this" there must be my God." I have a difficult time taking this claim seriously. Simply stated, if I were to believe that "all this" was created by an intelligent life form, I could more easily believe that life form to be my cat. Above all else she has, in her favor, the fact that she does exist. She seems as intelligent as any other cat. I can not prove her intelligence but she does find her food bowl, the litter box and has trained humans to provide for her every need and that is more than anyone can prove about a god. If I were to stipulate that a god were the divine creator there is nothing to point me in the direction of the God of Abraham specifically as opposed to Apollo or Odin.

Generally, I try to lead my life without straying too far into the territory of others. I'd say, "If your religion gives you comfort, keep it. It does me no harm." However, theists are pushing farther into the real world with their fantasies, and statements such as yours must not be left to become other people's truth. Science is necessary to the survival of our planet and all its life forms. Its slander should not go unchallenged. If you truly believe your own nonsense; the next time you are sick, you should avoid doctors; the next time you wish to travel, start walking; hungry? grow your own crops (better plant enough for the insects and animals too); and get far away from whatever electronic device from which you are now reading. My point is, even you do not believe it. Please stop trying to influence less intelligent and more gullible people with fiction presented as truth.

I have a dance at my school this coming Saturday, and my boyfriend and I want to go. We already bought our tickets, he bought his suit, he also ordered my dress. The total is over $200, and most of that money is rare because his mom has MS and she has disability checks. Yesterday morning, I was being smart towards my mother, to which she said I couldnt go to the dance. I was upset, and told my boyfriend. He was very angry because he lost $200, and really wanted to go. I tried to tell him not to have his mom call mine, but he did anyway. My mom ended up hanging up on his, and during the day, I tried to text her about other things. I video chatted her, and she was angry, which wasnt a good sign. I get home, and she tells me that she was going to forgive me (I said sorry to her about my mouth) and let me go, but thanks to his mom calling her, I cant go. I also got grounded. My boyfriend is upset and angry, and I regret the whole situation. What can we do to try and convince my mom to change her mind and let us go? She does know we were going, and she knows that $200 is wasted from this.
