• Atheists: Is John Lennon's "Imagine" a good atheist song?

Best answer: It's a good song. That's it. All atheism says is that there is not enough evidence to believe in any gods. It is not an organized movement, there is no liturgy, doctrine, ceremony or anything else. John Lennon was an atheist but he doesn't speak for all of them. I have been a musician since age 14. And, it's a lot of work putting on your own shows.

By the end of booking the gig, getting everyone to the gig, driving thru heavy traffic and sometimes bad weather, setting up all of the equipment (drums, guitars, PA, monitors, etc.), doing a sound check.......you don't feel like doing sh/yt.

Maybe that is why most bands come off as in bad moods when the fans talk to them. All of the work that goes into being in a rock band is extremely demotivating and uninspiring.

With hip hop, it's easy. You set up a few things and you are ready to go. More time to talk to the fans, more time to "party" and less headache and time spent setting everything up.

    Maybe that is why.

Or maybe hip hop is known for bringing the party, when rock is getting outdated and boring to the new generation.

Later in John's life, when he and Yoko were living in "The Dakota" building in New York City ... before John was shot ... he and his wife became vegetarians. John had been heavy into drugs before that, had separated from his wife .. and when they got back together he became super-healthy.

Paul we know became a vegetarian. His wife pushed for that, but he continued even after her death.

George, I don't know, but since he got HEAVY into Hinduism's yoga, I suspect he probably became a vegetarian. A lot of them do that.

Ringo was always just sort of an "everyman" .. I would guess he is the one who never went vegetarian.

When the Beatles came to the US in 1964, I became a Beatlemaniac .. I was female and the right age for that and everyone else was going crazy over them. I regained my senses a few years later, but still liked their music and did catch the news that came out about them.

  • Off-topic question - what new bands have you been listening to recently?

I've recently got into Iron Maiden and Alice in Chains and it's really good stuff. You can really feel the pain and unhappiness of the AIC lead singer, Layne Staley, in his voice.
