  • Travel in New Zealand: better off with a coach tour group or independent/solo travel?

Best answer: I think it really depends how much time and money you have and whether you are happy alone or you always need company.

A tour will be a lot easier if you don't have a lot of time. Everything is organized for you, you don't have to worry about anything. It is generally more expensive, but there are tours for a lot of different interests. You will meet new people and not be alone. Usually it's not a problem to get along with all or most people on a tour. You will not have flexibility though, your day is programmed and if you don't like the program there is not much else you can do.

It's been quite a while since I was in New Zealand but I am sure it still has a lot of backpacking hostels where you will meet a lot of other people traveling alone or small groups on your own. You can even join with other people for a day or two if you get along. It used to be that hitch hiking was quite acceptable, though I am not sure that is still the case. But New Zealand likes tourists, so they have a lot of provisions and you can book all kind of one day tours or have somebody bring you to the start of a trail. It's more of an adventure this way and you can be spontaneous. One thing I did was doing a little of "Willing workers on organic farms", where you work about half a day on a farm and you get food and accommodation for free. Short stays of a week or so weren't a problem then. It's a pretty economic way to experience different lifestyles. Though not the optimal for sightseeing of popular tourist attractions.

It really depends what you want to get out of the trip and how much time you have.

  • Seniors, is there anything you regret you did when you were younger?

Best answer: I wasted an awful lot of time and energy trying to be a good sport, a team player, a believer in human decency, a friend of the needy, an upstanding citizen, a lover of my fellow man, and an all-around nice guy. What a mistake! Casting pearls before swine.

Best answer: No. You must just have some stupid friends. Obviously, no-one thinks Canada is America because Canada is in the British Commonwealth. The only time you might get any confusion about New Zeeland and Australia is with those who aren't familiar enough with the accents to discern the difference, so they might mistake an Australian accent as being from New Zeeland or vice versa, but that's not because they think New Zeeland is part of Australia but just because they aren't clear on what accent they're hearing.
