Best answer: "I’ve learned that “fitness” here means how successful an individual is at reproducing."

    --That is correct.

"Then does it mean worker ants (or other organisms) which are sterile have “zero” fitness?"

--Yes, technically that's what it means, but to say that rather misses the point that the fitness of the queen is really what is at issue.

"If yes, then how they’re surviving?"

--The worker caste survives because the queen keeps producing more of them.

All the evidence we have says that indeed life is limited to Earth.

This is not likely to change, so it would be a good idea to get used to it.

Think of all the work that has gone into the momentous discovery that we are alone. Celebrate the fact.

    Cheers!

Best answer: The fossil remains are real but the interpretation is questionable. Not so much a hoax as confirmation bias. Donald Johanson was looking for a "human ancestor" and he interpreted the fossil to fit.

The conclusion of obligate bipedal-ism was always suspect and is now considered unlikely. "Lucy" was probably an arboreal ape and there is little reason to think she was in the human ancestral tree.

    [edit]
Australopith limb bones were highly suited to life in the trees, not the open savannah, as textbooks depict. Curved hand and foot bones, long arms and more indicate this.

Evidence from CAT scans of the fossil skulls (which show the orientation of the organ of balance) indicates that they did not walk habitually upright in the human manner.

Lucy’s kin have also been shown to have had a locking wrist mechanism typical of knuckle-walkers.

Analysis of foot bones shows that while the australopithecines may have had posterior arches, their medial arches would have been absent.

Best answer: They design and market things people wan or need. Bill Gates created the Windows Operating System. Mark Zukerburg created Facebook. A degree has nothing to do with what a person is capable of doing. It just means they sat through endless hours of boring lectures from people who never cared if they listened or not. What you create and market doesn't even have to have any real value so long as you can convince enough people to buy it.
