  • Is it a bad idea to have just liability insurance without collision/comprehensive even if you're an excellent driver with no record?

I haven't had an accident in maybe 10+ years, ever since I matured and grew up. I don't foresee myself getting into another unless I hit a deer or something which will only be like $1,500 in damages if I do. My current policy is $720 every 6 months because I'm currently financing my car. If I buy it... show more

But that's without collision/comprehensive.

  • How Do You Keep People From Stealing Gas From Your Car?

My neighbors keep stealing my gas. I'd move, but I'm financially unable to do so at the moment and having to continuously buy more gas because my neighbor's keep stealing it isn't helping.

Best answer: I sometimes think that you need to stop your question above with a question mark after the word "car" and delete all the words and punctuation after the newly placed question mark.

Does anyone know why car makers stopped making their fuel gauges displaying fuel level with the car turned off? Now that I think about it, they may have stopped doing that as it would be easy for a car jacker to jack the car knowing they had plenty of fuel without needing the keys to find out.

I have lived in the same building for 19 years. About 10 years ago a woman moved in. There are four covered spots in the front, everyone else has to park in the lot in back. My car is very old, and over time has sometimes leaked various fluids. I am the only one allowed to park there, and no one has any reason to walk through it. For a few months, because I had a leaking water pump, quite a bit of coolant would leak out onto the ground. This woman would put cardboard under my car, leave notes on my car/door, and threaten to notify/notify the management company (she's the building's busybody, everyone who's not her keeps to themselves and minds there own business). Eventually so much would leak out that I would put a catchtray under it overnight, and pour it back into the radiator in the morning, so no mess. I know that I would never bother anyone else about this. But am I in the wrong here? I'm not talking about the language in my lease , i.e. you have a responsibility to keep your parking spot clean and your vehicle in working condition, etc. If you had a neighbor whose spot (that no one else was allowed to park in anyway) was messy, would you make a stink about it, or just mind your own business?

  • How do deal with unsafe drivers?

Even if YOU are speeding, he will pull out and pass you.

Or also get a DIESEL chrome emblem and stick on the back of your car and people avoid you LIKE THE PLAGUE. You stink. and are too slow..

If you do drive a diesel, just shove it down into a lower gear and tromp on the accelerator pedal which should produce excess black smoke. They back off.

Proper distance between you and the next car is a 2 second interval. As soon as the car in front passes a sign you count 1 N 2N and you should just reach that sign. That is the distance needed to stop for your car. Whether you are going 30MPH or 130MPH the 2 second rule applies. I have more like a 4 second space because I can.

As for being in the right lane, you are in the proper lane. It they want to pass they must pass you using the left lane. Otherwise I ignore them especially since they do not have the flashing lights a cop car, ambulance or fire truck has, then you pull over to the shoulder of the road and stop until the emergency vehicles pass. Then get on the road again. The left lane "sometimes called the passing lane" is for emergency vehicles...so they can go like a BAT OUT OF HELL to the emergency.

As for the clown behind you that moves without signal lights....he got his driver training play Nintendo car driving games.

The guy behind you with the high beams. It is his problem if you are in the right lane. He has to pass in the left lane or STFU. i just adjust my rearview mirror so his headlights do not reflect into my eyes.

Some people drive only with the highbeams on not realizing that it affects the drivers in front of them. General *******.

They don't know how to drive., or are visually impaired.

Fortunately not all drivers are like that.

Instead of doing 60 do 50 and that will force them to pass you . You would rather them be in front than behind you.

I drove VW Beetle for years so got used to this B.S. Also drove a Diesel.for years. And a sports car for years and with that car you could be purposely going under the speed limit and the other cars stayed behind you, SO...go figure?

  • When is the best time to purchase your own vehicle?

Best answer: Ideally, when you can pay cash in full.

Beyond that, the last day of the month/Last day or the year even better.

But the last part assumes you are a very good negotiator and you are buying from a dealer. Most people are not and should not.

  • Is it worth the trouble to let my credit union take my car when I file bankruptcy and then buy a car in cash after?

I still owe $5,000 on a car that is only worth $4,200. It’s a Chevy sonic and has 155k mileage. Is it better to let the credit union take my car when I file and just buy a used car in cash to save money between the loan payment and high priced car insurance (I live in Michigan) in the long run?
