• Best excuse for a broken windshield on the inside?

I was arguing with a passenger in my car and they punched and broke my windshield. I have an appointment on Wednesday to get it fixed. I think I’ll be able to hide it from my mom and dad, but if they see it I don’t want to tell them who did it and why. I was thinking of saying a rock hit it but it’s on the inside.... show more

1)If the bulb is a halogen bulb and you touched it with your fingers as you installed it. High power Halogen bulbs such as in headlights are not supposed to be touched by skin as body oils somehow affect the glass. Most halogen bulbs tell you not to handle them directly as you install them as it will shorten their life. When changing them use a tissue or clean cloth or cotton gloves to handle the bulb and install it.
    2) Problem with manufacture. You can get a bulb that blows because something went wrong during manufacture. Maybe there was a thin part of the filament that could not handle the power for the full expected life. Maybe the glass bulb was faulty and air got inside the bulb allowing the filament to burn up at a weak point. Only the other day I bought 2 light bulbs to replace a blown bulb in my lounge room. The second time I turned the light on the new bulb blew so obviously there was a fault with the manufacturing of it.

I don't know if my ex-girlfriend mess with my car and loosen my oil filter or if the last mechanic didn't tighten it enough it is hard to say. Either way I was driving down the road in my 2008 Camry and every once in awhile when I would make a sharp left turn the master emergency light would flash on for Split Second... but it flashed on and off so fast I didn't even see what the message was. Then a couple days later it flashed on again after not having flashed on for a while and it said low engine oil pressure. I immediately pulled over and saw that there was no oil on the dipstick so I put in about 3 or 4 quarts and then everything was fine after that it has been through one oil change since then and I have not had any issues or low oil.... So far I have driven 5000 miles since the incident I do have a bad wheel bearing going bad but that has nothing to do with the engine but I'm just wondering if that incident could have damage the engine I mean I know already I mean I know already it's not good but is it really that bad?

  • What does it mean if a FWD car will not drive forward sometimes but will reverse?

The transmission has been slipping before but now the car will only move in reverse sometimes. We also felt a nudge from the car as it was crusing at highway speeds.

  • Clutch safety switch question?

When did this become mandatory, or should I say when did it start being installed on every standard transmission vehicle from the factory? Also, how does it work? I don't mean like it stops the car from starting that's obvious. What does it disable? Does it stop fuel from going to the engine? Does it disable the ignition system (spark)? I've seen vehicles crank over perfectly fine without the clutch pushed in, on older vehicles. But never knew what exactly is disabled to prevent the vehicle from starting.

  • Are "modern" vehicles (ultra-computerized, electric/power everything) more trouble-prone than "traditional" models?

If I move up from a "good ol'" 1989 Voyager minivan (window crank handles) to a used 2004 Astro with everything automated and electrified, will I regret it? I do NOT need a 4-wheeled temperamental girlfriend. :(

It then sputtered and died. I restarted it and the car had a weird smell and won't go above 25 MPH and the check engine light is back on. Where should I start looking for the problem?

  • Is a 1.3 disesel car with a small engine fine to drive on the motorway?

Best answer: here in the uk and europe we dont need big engines to go fast ...we just make powerful engines ...a 1.3 diesel will do 100mph easily ..we make engines under 1000cc ..they can produce 180bhp ...and still get 60mpg`s ...so yes no problem on a motorway

I seriously don't understand why people hate leather so much. I often hear these things. -"It smells like old shoes." -"It holds smells." -"Too hot in the summer on too cold in the winter." -"They're difficult to maintain." -"They don't last." -"They stain easily." The majority of these facts are wrong. A couple are opinions. I've heard these things and none of them make any sense at all. I have 2 cars with cloth seats and never again. If I so much as look at them the wrong way, they become stained. Leather is a lot easier to care for if it's kept up on (clearing them off and conditioning). Why do people hate leather so much?

  • Will my car survive a short road trip?

Best answer: I am 71 years of age. Asking a 190K mile old car to go 60 miles more is like asking me to live 8 days more longer.
Ask me next week, if I respond, your car will probably last 60 miles also.

Steady 55 mph highway is being gentle on a car. Stop and go is the killer.
