  • What would someone recommend in a motorcycle for a 5' 8'' female weighing in the 120 pound range?

Your height but light weight- Suzuki S40, big single cylinder, good torque and very light weight for engine size. couple other posters have ridden them and say very good for city street, good country road and usable on interstate with about 85mph top. Suzuki GS500 another possible, Honda Shadow or whatever they call later model, moderate seat height, 500cc to 750cc with shaft drive. Honda Rebel often called good for beginner-- but younger brothers was a real kneebanger for me at 6 foot, seems it was a 'domestic' first and that means built around 4'10" to 5'4" inch Japanese new riders. good fit on 5'2" women, wife of friend with Harley sporty. Yamaha makes a Vtwin cruiser style in the 500cc to 900cc range- the 535cc may fit you better than the 250. these bikes have been made awhile, decent used models should be reasonable priced just in case they get totaled or you lose interest. 5 tp 10 year old Honda Rebels common in used markets- newbies ride a year, then get a crotch rocket to sometimes speed from officers, get their license revoked, then back to bicycles. The 350 to 650 engine size range can provide a fairly easy beginners bike that may be used much longer for long trips as well as city streets. I'm riding suzi 650 4 cylinder now with heavier Goldwing still in garage, little rat CM400 has dead battery- but might get new battery and another student next month- female sort of light, maybe 5'5" . .

  • What causes a motorcycle to start vibrating over a certain speed?

I have a Yamaha Dragstar 1100 with an HP of 34. When I exceed 100 kph, the vehicle starts to vibrate and gives a buzzing sound. After engaging the clutch, it returns to normal. Could this be a problem with increased exhaust backpressure? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks :)

I'm 17, almost 18. Looking to buy my first motorcycle. I'll be buying my first motorcycle, but I have ridden dirt bikes before, so I'm not a complete beginner. When I turn 18, I plan on buying my first motorcycle, the question is, should I get a yamaha v star 250 (used beginner choice), or a 2017 honda rebel 300 abs new? I can get the yamaha for around $2200, and the honda for about $3700. I want a bike that will last me for 5 years when I buy it, probably with lots of riding done on it. (senior year of highschool and 4 years of college). I see people say that they are outgrowing the rebel too quickly and want a bigger bike, but I'm paying for my own insurance, so I don't want that to go up with a bigger bike, and I'd rather have a less powerful bike so I'm not tempted to speed as much. So, with the price of gear and the MSF training course, what do you think I should do? I think the yamaha is a nice bike, but I'm not sure about buying used, as I don't know what it's been through and if it will last me 5 years. I do prefer the Honda more though, as it looks better, is new, slightly more powerful, and has abs brakes, which I think will really help since ill most likely be riding in all conditions. So should I buy the yamaha with $2200, buy the honda with $2200 as a downpayment and loan the rest off, or wait a bit longer and pay the $3700 in full?
