• Why are, sometimes, lawyers allowed to stand for OBVIOUSLY guilty criminals?

Sometimes, like, in the case of Ted Bundy or OBVIOUS rapists, child-molestors (where it's obvious that the person IS guilty. Even the stupidest know that this person is guilty), why are lawyers even allowed to stand for them in a court? Why aren't they punished without a trial when it's obvious that... show more

The Holidays are here, and are in full swing. Hanukkah is going on as we speak, Christmas parties and get-togethers are being held in homes and restaurants all over town, and Christmas will be followed by a full week of Kwanzaa starting the very next day. Alcohol tends to be featured prominently at these celebrations, and there are always a lot of DUI checkpoints around the holidays. Suppose that I am on my way home from a Christmas party one weekend, and come across a DUI checkpoint and have to stop for it. Looking back at what I drank during the party, I expect that I will fail the breathylizer and sobriety tests if I go through them the conventional way. But let's say that I've planned for just such an occassion. What I could do is take an empty glass liquor bottle, such as vodka, and fill it partially with water. Then when I stop for the checkpoint, I hop out of my car and quickly chug the contents of the bottle right in front of the cops, then smash the bottle into a million pieces, preventing an analyses of the residual contents. I claim that it was actual vodka that I just chugged. Then the police cant prove that I was driving while over the limit, as my BAC could have come from the "vodka" that I just chugged AFTER I was through driving. They still get me on an open container charge but better than a DUI. Could that work?

  • Color discrepancy on speeding ticket?

The color of the vehicle I was speeding in was officially gold, when the police officer wrote it down as tan. Does that mean the ticket is technically invalid? Do I have to go to court to mention that inconsistency or can I just call the county clerk? Thanks.

I live in California and yesterday I was riding my motorcycle back to my house after work. Anyway I was on the highway and I saw a police car turn it's sirens and pulled me over. I quickly got my phone and recorded since Idk I just keep track of the times I get pulled over and I have evidence if something happened. The cop said there was a robbery the opposite way I was going and he said the suspect had the same description as my motorcycle. Then he realised I was recording and told me he could confiscate my phone for any type of evidence and he has the right to tell me not to record. HES A COP. He sounds foolish

  • Chances of me being a cop?

Im trying to join Navy reserves so I can get veterans preference when I apply to be a cop. I failed asvab practice test and the real test. Should I just say screw it and get a job? My worries is how hard would it be to get hired as police officer without military background.

Examples would be hackers, mafia members who know how other criminals operate, etc. If criminals have a lot of experience or degrees, do agencies actually recruit them or is that just a movie thing?

Best answer: Partly, many Conservatives tend to distrust local government a little less than we distrust Federal government. Thus, we distrust the "jack booted thugs" of the Federal Law Enforcement agencies more than we distrust local cops.

But that is not true for all Conservatives. Many distrust all law enforcement equally. Many others are of the, "Let's wait and see what the investigation brings out," variety. But you'll never hear those two camps.

Whenever there's a police shooting, however justified or unjustified, the two voices that make the most noise are always the EXTREMES. On one hand you have the "Police never do anything wrong, it must have been the shootee's fault," often coming from The Right. On the other you have the, "Police are always the tyrannical bullies and it is certain that the cop was motivated by racial hatred when he shot that poor, innocent kid" generally coming from The Left. Those two extremes always yell loud enough to drown out more reasonable, balanced voices.
