why do i keep getting cold sores?
about 2 weeks ago i got a cold sore in the front of my mouth (where the bottom front teeth are) on the right side. it took it...i think almost about a week to go away.
for a couple days i was cold sore free then another one comes up on the other side of my mouth near the inside of my lip its still there & i have been using a medicated lip ointment that usually helps with that stuff.
why have i been getting these cold alot sores lately??
I already got tested for herpes and it came back negative so what could it be?
do you think i need to be tested again? what are the ways of testing for this?
i have only been with 2 ppl in my entire life 1 of whom i am still with and have been for the past 6 years. we have never had herpes
im worried :(
sorry sorry sorry.....i think its a canker sore

Cold sores are a virus that are related to herpes but are not the STD herpes.
You can't make them go away totally but you can slow how often they occur.
Are you sure it isn't a canker sore?

I get them all the time.. Weather change, Cold, a breeze on me at night can bring one on.. Its not a std..
I recommend aveeno for the cold sores.. works the best.
Cold sores are caused by the virus known as herpes simplex type I (HSV-1). After the first episode of the disease, the virus lies dormant in the nerves or skin around the original area until something sets the virus off into another eruption. Colds, flu, and even stress can cause you to have an outbreak of cold sores. Why you have an outbreak at one time of life and not another is not clearly understood.

Sun and stress are two big causes of cold sores. I used to get them all the time until I started taking the amino acid Lysine. I take one every single day, and I no longer get cold sores. However, as soon as I start forgetting the Lysine, I get one again. Lysine also helps shrink the sore faster. The Herpes virus that causes cold sores is a different strain from the one that causes STDs.

Herpes may be categorized into oral and genital herpes. Oral herpes are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1). They are commonly referred to as cold sores or fever blisters. Fever blisters often appear as tiny, clear, fluid-filled blisters on the face. These usually appear on the lips. Genital herpes, on the other hand, is caused by HSV-2 and is characterized by painful, itchy sores in the genital area.
When one has herpes, be it on the mouth of the genital region, you will notice the presence of small, red bumps, blisters, or open sores in the infected area. These blisters will be very itchy and/or painful to the touch. These blisters will rupture and become ulcerations that will eventually turn into scabs and heal on its own.
There is no true cure for herpes, only preventive measures for future breakouts. I've seen great results with natural cures. Visit this site for more info about the remedies: http://herpescure.toptips.org

well if you used chapstick while you had a cold sore, and then used it again once the cold sore was gone. It could cause you to get another cold sore. Also if you have been getting multipul sunburns on your lips could cause you to get cold sores.

the herpes virus will never leave your body. stressors such as illness, too much sun, & personal conflicts will increase your chances of an outbreak. never touch the open sores with your hands as they are very contagious and you can spread them to other parts of your own body. see a doctor for antiviral meds. be sure to toss out your toothbrush and lip balms one week after the sores heal to prevent reinfection. use a blowdryer or paper towel on the sores for drying.
