My daughter gave me a Sugar Maple tree one Mother's day.

We planted it together, fed and watered it together, and watched it grow together. We had picnics and playtime under the shady leaves in the summer and colorful leaves in the fall, creating wonderful memories. I felt honored that she wanted to give me a gift that has provided so many memories.

To create a memory on Mother's Day is not a matter of material things. A mother doesn't really care for an expensive gift or a nice dinner. A mother needs love and care. A powerful memory is a mother knowing that her son or daughter loves her with all the love there is in the world. It is better than anything in the world to have someone tell you they love you. Better than all the treasure, money and power. These are the ways I think you can honor and celebrate your mother and I know that it will create a memory for ever.

This is quite the question. With your mother it must be personal. you can't buy your mom. She is all about the moment and a loving family. For a truely honorable moment that your mother will cherish. 1. you must be there heck the whole family should be there. Everything is better when everyone is there to show her its her day. 2. Put the phones away one of the few days that you can take a message and deal with it another time. 3. If available hire a cook to come to the house who will cook clean and do the dishes so the family is untied up and everyone can stay seated at the table and converse. Plus its keeps the worry of the food and dishes off everyone's shoulders. Now this option is not available to most so plan out a nice home cooked dinner and make sure your mom stays out of the kitchen or if she is more of the I need to be in my kitchen help her out but dont let her do the dishes. If you have more siblings innclude them in everything. But have a good plan to avoid any sibling bickering. With your mother is not the gift that matters soo much its what the gift means, how its presented, and why it was given. a new vaccum is a nice gift but even if her's just broke the other day.....its probably gonna be a ohhh thats all I do is cook and clean even if she doesn't say it. Keep it to cozy items that make her feel luxurious slippers are awesome low price gifts as well as anything that helps out any hobbies she has. Just remeber keep it personal, try not to fight today, phones away, and money wont buy your mothers happiness

Hi Leeza! We are having a family get together and me being a new mom to a 1 1/2 month old, it will be ever so special because we can all be together and all the family can see the new addition to the family. We did that for Easter too and it was wonderful but some people in the family couldn't make it so this one everyone is "Supposed to be coming to". Then I also had my baby's handprint put on plaster, bought her a little plaque with a rhymed poem on it, and I also am using the poem thats on here, which I got off here a week ago when I asked a question about Mother's Day from the "Reserved" girl. Anyhow it should be another Mother's Day that she'll remember especially with her new Grandbaby celebrating it with us. It's so great being a mother. Happy Mother's Day to you.

My mother has always been there for me at my toughest and joyful time...And now I am a student studying thousands of miles away from her. Though I am not there to celebrate this special day with her, I have always made it a point to do something that would really make her feel precious, and to show her of how I appreciate GODs gift on letting me have a Mother like her. Every year, I had made it a point to write a poem dedicated specially for her, but the way I have presented have been different. Once it was framed and sent from my place, the following year, it was a voice recording and this year, a surprize in her mailbox. These are the smallest things I could do, and I know, however tiny it maybe, for her it will mean the most... My mother is definitely special to me in all ways, and I'd do anything just to see her smile all the time....Happy Mother's Day Ma!!!

Find a way to show that you treasure the memories, and that you appreciate her for the values she taught you. The best thing sometimes if you live far away and cannot see her in person is to give her a call, best thing is to visit her.

If you still live at home, maybe do something for your mom that will show that you appreciate her - maybe cook a meal for her and do the dishes afterward and insist that she sit down and relax. Or take her out somewhere special that she would like.

I don't know if these things would "create powerful memories", but they are nice little things that show you care, and that she wouldn't be likely to forget.

My mother passed on and went home to God a few years back, and I along with my brothers visited her at the cemetary and then spent time laughing and reminiscing about the old times and common experiences we had with our mom - our mom was sort of an extraordinary person - she had a somewhat different way of looking at things - I think we all inherited that from her.

Well let me start by saying that I am very lucky to have my mother living on the same property as I do. My mother and I were not always so lucky. I lived in an abusive home and she wasn't aware that the abuse was happening. I let home at the age of 15 and lived on the streets. She wasn't aware of why I left and thought I had "lost my mind". At the same time I too thought that she had lost her mind for not wanting me to stay home. Anyway years went by and I missed my mom so much!! (by the way the father in my home was a step father).

Mother's day was always a hard day for both of us. I was lucky enough for her to be back in my life when I had my first child, 19 years ago. Let me tell you...it has been the best 19 years (with many, many more to come!) that we have had together. Everyday we talk and or do something together! We have worked out all the issues that had happened. And I respect her for all that she has done. We are best friends and I count on her for always being there for me as I would be there for her. I love my mom more than any of these words will ever say. She has helped me as a daughter and as a friend. I love her more than she will ever know!! I'm not sure if this is what you want....Not sure that I would ever want to have this

First and foremost, I would like to welcome you, Ms. Leeza Gibbons, to the Yahoo! Answers community. It is a true honor and pleasure.

Here are the ways that I honor and celebrate my mother that creates powerful memories on Mother's Day:

    1. Give Mother's Day cards.

    2. Make an awesome breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert.

    3. Create Mother's Day presents.

    4. Clean the house up from top to bottom.

    5. Remodel the closet in the master bedroom into a bathroom.
