My mom passed away last year, so the very best and most powerful way for me to honor and celebrate her and her memory is to carry on the traditions she started with my brother, sister and me which include the typical breakfast in bed, but more importantly, that on Mother's Day the greatest gifts I could receive are the homemade gifts (made with the very hands and hearts of my children) and to never, ever let them doubt for a moment that they are the most important people in my life. My kids are my greatest accomplishment. As for creating powerful memories, I hope that my kids will always have the memory of their mother's laughter (over the little things in life as well as the big) because I know that has seen me through more heartache than any platitude ever could. That is what memories are really made of...on Mother's Day or any day. And that I always ate their burnt toast and runny eggs on Mother's Day morning!
