Salicylic Acid and its Location of Absorption in Human?

Hi,

Is salicylic acid absorbed in the stomach (pH 1) or in the small intestine (pH 7.4)?

In the stomach, it exists as mainly unionized salicylic acid.

In the intestine, there is more ionized salicylic acid.

The ionized form of salicylic acid is more soluble in water (lower partition coefficient) and thus has a higher concentration.

The unionzied form of salicylic acid is less soluble in water (higher partition coefficient) and thus has a lower concentration.

Based on Fick's Law (rate of absorption across biological membrance increases as partition coefficient and concentration gradient increases), where will salicylic acid be mainly absorbed?

Thank you.

u must understand that any drug is absorbed in an unionized form coz the cell memb is 70% lipid so un ionized is lipid sol hence stomach

No because Acne is caused by oil clogging the pores and if you were alergic to salicylic acid then your face would be itchy and irritated.
