Do you believe in Love at first sight?

Even if you have never actually seen the person/entity/trinity/whatever? What kind of love is that?

I met this person on line and "sommat" really attracted me right from the get go. When we are told we are s'posed to love God, is that the same sort of love?

Are there differnt kinds?

Thanks for your answers. :)

I definitely believe in love at first sight and have had the same online experience as you; the attraction was instant. The attraction is one I have surrendured myself to completely. This person happens to be an Aussie like myself and a Libran like myself as well....any idea who they might be? ;)

I believe that like attracts like, so an abundance of charm and talent and intelligence and handsomeness, when it finds the same in equal measure, it is only natural that there should be the deep attraction. As far as love for God, that is explained nearly in the same manner: people project onto God those qualities they feel are the best in themselves, thus they are loving God, loving themself.

    Interesting...

I don't believe in love at first sight, maybe lust at first sight.

I had met my husband when I was young but never paid much attention to him until I met him again many years later and there was this connection I can't explain it (maybe love at second sight) but I had to be around him, see him, get to know him and talk to him daily...7 years later here we are happily married.

I must admit though I did lust him instantly (not that this was the main reason I wanted to get to know him) but I know it was a contributing factor.

On line love at first sight I have witnessed it...my Uncle was chatting with a women on his myspace for a long time and had never actually met and they both swore up and down that they loved each other. The first time they met they moved in together but I'm sad to report that their (love) didn't last they broke up 8 months later.

As for the love that I feel for God being the same as the love for another individual be it my children, my spouse, family or friends...that kind of love is different. Love for God is greater then any of these and is very different...I think the same goes for the love of your child verses the love of your spouse it is a different kind of love.

What a blessed individual to be loved by such a wonderful guy like you (((Gazpacho)))

  • I believe that love at first sight is possible, although rare. Love at first internet meeting....hmmm, I'm not sure what kind of love that is. But if you feel such an intense attraction, go with it. What do you have to lose?

There are many different kinds of love. There is the love for your spouse or partner, the love toward a child, the love toward your parents, the love toward friends, the love for a beloved pet, the love toward your country, the love toward a comrade in arms, the love of a home or special place or favorite food. And then there is lust which is often mistaken for love. ; )

i think that on a very rare occasion, a person can look into another person's eyes and instantly recognize some kind of trait(s) that we really desire in a partner. there's some kind of instant familiarity that attracts us- we somehow just instantly KNOW that this is the person we want to be with- and i would call that love at first sight. others will argue that it's purely infatuation, and i think that's just as possible, if not MORE possible than love at first sight, but the latter does happen. and simply believing in love at first sight makes a person more likely to experience it.

    go for it, dude!

Source(s): i had a brief moment of eye contact with a girl in 2000. we couldn't have looked at each other for more than fifteen seconds, and then i lost her in the crowd. but that spark in her eyes, that glow in her smile... i felt something, and i remember it like it was yesterday. ps- someone said somthin' about dracula... did you ever watch ''scream, blackula, scream,'' the old black exploitation movie from the seventies? i promise you'll laugh yourself into tears.

i think it's more about the things we learn about a person right from the start, from body language, how they carry themselves, etc. like a first impression. we automatically make these assumptions in the first few seconds of meeting any person, and i guess if you talk to the person and they made a really good first impression you cant ever remember not liking them. put it this way... if you saw someone at a party or something, and you think its love at first sight, try to ask yourself "wold i die for this person? right now?" the answer is probably no, although there are people who would do this for anyone.

also, i dont think the love for god is like unconditional love, there are too many agnostics, atheists, other religions, and people who hate god for not blessing them or some crap.

i do no longer believe in love in the beginning up sight. I do believe in charm and lust in the beginning up sight, yet no longer love. Love is outfitted on a beginning place of friendship, and that takes time to construct.

This is what I understand about love, Love is one that is the essence of Love is the same to everyone you love but you love in different degrees. yes I believe if you love God it must be of the same love. And you can love more than millions of times, and I think people who say that you can love only one true love are truly narrow minded, Sorry ( No offense intended). I love all my friends and family members the same love.

Edit: Yeah I believe in Love at first sight, I'm master in that.

I think there are different levels of love. I think love at first sight is a possibility, hope so. :) I choose to believe there has to be people that can connect on a deep spiritual level that is unexplainable. Helps me to hold on to hope.

Gods love however, is unconditional he loves no matter what we have done or could ever do...don't understand it...but so glad for it.

    Peace

I know this is gonna sound ridiculous, but I just *knew* the very first time I saw my (decidedly not handsome, so it wasn't and isn't lust) worse half. It's been one hell of a roller coaster ride through 21 years and 3 kids, and it's always been a love/hate thing, but I knew. And we're still together.

I could have loved one man I met here but I never met him.

I do not believe in love at first sight, lust yes, love no.
