Postman wouldn't deliver junk mail?

A postman was disciplined for not delivering junk mail. In my opinion he should be hailed as a hero. Everyday I get piles of junk mail that I don't want , don't open, and throw in the recycling bin. Its a waste of my time, and a huge waste of paper. I wish it would stop. What do you think?

I understand his position, and I am certainly frustrated by the junk mail that I receive in my mailbox, however, there are appropriate channels and behavior that is expected in a democratic society when you opopose the status quo. If he had a problem with delivering "junk mail," then a possible start to changing the system would be to contact a legislator or engage in talks with the Postmaster in a civilized manner. I don't think that I want any one individual to take it upon himself or herself to be the judge on what mail should and shouldn't be delivered.

Haililng him as a hero would set a bad precedent for other postal carriers who had similar ideas. We need to have assurance that the mail that is addressed to us is delivered to us. Imagine wondering if your postal carrier had a problem with a particular organization you were involved in and decided to not deliver your mail from that organization.

No, there has to be protocol and everyone who works for the USPS must follow that protocol whether they agree or not.

What a foolish question? A postal employee is employed to deliver the mail. Senders of ads and other "junk" mail have paid for that mail to be delivered. The postal employee has no right to not do their job and deliver the mail, regardless of whether they think it is "junk" mail or not. Just because you don't like doing something at work, because you think it is not of value, are you allowed to trash it or just let it slide? I seriously doubt it.

Its should be the postman's duty to deliver the mail that is either addressed to the person or the address. If its just a bunch of fliers that someone hands him for every mailbox. I don't think he should be held accountable. The companies having them printed ,should have to deliver them if they want them in every mailbox,and let the postman do the job as it was in the beginning, to deliver "mail".

I think who you support says a lot about you.

I choose the recipient view point because the people need to have more of a say over their lives and it includes the mail they receive.

Say no to junk mail. What a waste of resources.

What I would want to know is who was the idiot that told on him? Was someone sitting at home complaining they weren't getting junk mail? If I lived in that town, I would drop all my junk mail off at that persons house. If it was his boss, I would do the same to him/her, give them all my unwanted junk mail.

FIRST.....One persons "junk mail".....is another persons mail.....I know several people who LOVE their junk mail.....coupons and sales make their day
SECOND.....The post office gets money for every piece of junk mail delivered.....they stop delivering junk mail and your cost of mailing a package / letter will double

I agree, it was all junk . Not important mail. I like the stuff that comes in prepaid envelopes, I can fill those with my junk mail and send it back. hahahaha

well he was wrong for not delivering the mail because it was paid for by someone, and that would be stealing. not to mention that stealing mail is a federal offense.

i am sick of my house being littered with rubbish

i don't own a car so its pointless sending me information on car insurance ,or any other junk

how exactly is all this rubbish helping the environment
if we still had coal fires we might appreciate this rubbish but we are just putting it in the bin

He can have mine, along with the non-junk mail (bills).
