Is hebrew, in general, a difficult language to learn?

And, what countries currently speak it?

Not particularly difficult to learn basic Hebrew - enough to get by in ordinary conversations - once you have mastered the alphabet and reading "backwards"!

It's still a fairly "primitive" language so has fewer words meaning the same thing.

I made friends with an Israeli living in England and she attempted to teach me Hebrew - she taught Hebrew to immigrants to Israel so was very experienced.

The one thing I couldn't manage was the accent. She said to me in despair one day "You speak Hebrew with the most English accent I have ever heard"!

It's used in Israel and Jews use it in their religious services all over the World.
