Problem with burning .avi files onto dvd?

My husband has all these movies that we watch, and they are all AVI files. However, whenever we try to burn them onto dvd, they always end up being sound only, even when we convert the file. Has anyone ever had this problem and know how to fix it?

    I think there is someting wrong with your burned dvd, i think your burned dvd is data dvd, so you can't play it well on DVD player, and only have sound, so you should try use right software to burn standard video DVD from your avi files, agree with phelps, I am using RZ DVD Creator too, it can directly convert and burn any video files(any formats, include any avi files) onto standard video DVD that can be played well on DVD player with good video and audio quality. You should have a try.

    Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

    I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it, it works just great.

    It will automatically convert to DVD format, readable by all standard dvd players, it will then burn automatically to DVD...

    it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

    1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:

    It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mkv, mp4, avi to dvd

    2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

    3. Insert blank DVD

    4. Click "Convert"

    5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

    It has many other nice features too, for example;

    you can create your own DVD menu, and add subtitles

    I think your burned dvd is wrong, because most DVD player only recognize the standard video DVD, so you should use right software to convert and burn your avi files onto standard video DVD, there is an easy way, you can try RZ DVD Creator, works well, it can directly convert any videos to standard video DVD and burn to any DVD disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc.), such as convert/burn avi to video DVD, and the burned video DVD can be played well on DVD player. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, easy to

    use, hope these info can help you.

    ...AVI files are huge. Unless you have extremely large sized discs, the video won't fit onto CDs
