Dealing with difficult people?

My family's difficult person is a daughter i n law who has made my son miserable for over a year threatening to divorce him and keeping the children from him. They are still married, but just barely. She wants to come to our Christmas gathering and I said yes because she is part of the family. She is trying to make amends, but I think it might take well over 100 years!! I am set to treat her amicably, but my other children are wanting to be mean. These are all adults and I do not know what they will do. Any suggestions on handling this?

Well, this should be common sense to her, but just say that what your kids are doing do not reflect the way you feel.

My advice- Remind them that they are adults and need to act like it. Tell them (your children) she is still part of the family and thats that. But also I would have a sit-down with both your daughter-in-law and son and encourage them to see a marriage consular. Tell them its not good for your family or themselves. If you ever get to speak with her alone, remind her keeping the children will help nothing. Your son can sue for custody if things ever go wrong. From what you provide your children are not being immature its all the daughter-in-law. But I SO respect you for still inviting her to the Christmas party. I hope they can work this out. And I wish you guys a Happy Holiday.

Tell them to stop acting like children. Tell them, since she's trying to make amends, give her the chance. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Tell them all to be nice to her and they need to for those kids, since she is their mom and she can keep them away from tou all next year if she is not made fill welcome. She might have been serious wanting to make a amends so good for you for opening up your home to her.Life is to short to have such problems.
