China has nukes, first off . . . To those of you that don't seem to know that.

Second, in 20 years China is expected to be the dominant power in the World. China must wait a long time to milk us financially to build their infrastructure (Naval ships, power grids, etc . . .) This will be economic warfare. The oil providers began their economic warfare in the early 70s, after infiltration by Sayyid Qutb followers into the elite circles (elite = oil producers), and China will slowly mark up their cheap goods once we are completely useless and a generation has survived on Chinese goods without having manufactured anything for themselves . . . War effort? How do we make bullets, again? Does China have those tanks ready, yet?

The dream that once was Rome is gone.

China is a land power, not an air and sea power. The US is an air and sea power, not a land power. A military conflict of that kind would go to the US though without any possibility of a US occupation of China. China simply hasn't the kind of military mojo to threaten the US mainland. Also consider that China, Russia and India are the forces in that area in conflict, and all of them are land powers...a fact that will tend to keep those three in balance. Basically war in the 19th and 20th century definition is not going to happen. What will happen and has already happened is that the power and influence that once belonged to states now is in the hands of a handful of trans national corporations. While limited war such as our current adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan are overall money makers a large scale war such as WW2 is a commercial loser...therefore it ain't gonna' happen. Besides, nuclear power tends to balance out 'large country' wars and everyone knows that. Barack has seen the future and is currently beefing up our covert forces and cyber attack defenses to deal with 3rd world crazies and non state terrorists....'wars' that preclude 70 ton tanks and B-52 bomber strikes. We're going to be okay if we can somehow wait out this GOP/Teabag/Fox 'News' Axis fad and start dealing with 21st century problems. At this point these characters are the 'enemy'...not China!

China credits the US... The US borrows money from China (amongst others) to buy goods from China .. and its all compounding interest coming to a total of about $15 trillion .. which is marginally equivalent to US GDP.

This is like saying you borrow money from Costco to buy Costco goods and have to pay Costco :

    1) The price of the good 2) The sums borrowed 3) The interest on the sums borrowed. So if a pizza costs $5 .. you (or rather your children) have to pay about $12 for the same pizza.

The debt is largely the result of ridiculously low taxation policies maintained in spite of vast budget deficits through the last two decades.

One day the Chinese will say .. enough is enough .. We don't think you can pay us our money back.. particularly as the dollar depreciates... and all of a sudden CNN/Fox will start going on about human rights abuses in Tibet and saving bunnies from Communist rapists etc etc.. and that's how WW3 will start... China will probably not invade...... the US is the only country to have conducted significant invasions of other countries in recent history... and will probably manipulate a client state like South Korea or one of the CARs to incite the conflict.

This is exactly how WW1 started.

I'd give it 20 years & my money's on the Chinese.

It is the # 1 Super Power economically jack@ss, Yeah nuking them would work really well wouldn't sport? Do you know anything about Nuclear Proliferation Champ? It means most Countries that have running water have Nukes that can reach us too, so Nuking anyone would really miss the point of actually being able to win a war. Put the glue bottle down and stop inhaling the aerosol cans man, and get a grip of what the world is really like. It looks nothing like your games from X-BOX or PS3 and it has real Girls in it that want real Men to date...............................

YES! NUKE CHINA. We need not another 9-11 to know China is growing and no good. With growing power, someday, a no-good president will rule china and attack us. Nuke them to stop this from happening

china is evil, but they are not stupid. They will never invade the U.S. or start a nuclear war.

I am positive that china will try to kick the U.S. out of asia, especially near Taiwan and Korea, but they will fail with korea, but probably succeed with Taiwan. Taiwan is toast.

As soon as you say "nuclear missile launching U.S. submarines," these questions tend to answer themselves.

BTW, the Chinese don't have any submarines that can launch nuclear missiles. Game over.

And also BTW, your understanding of foreign trade is way off. But that's beside the point.
