Should I have mitral valve repair surgery?

I am 33 years old and have mitral valve prolapse with moderate to severe mitral regurgitation. The only symptom I have is occasional lightheadedness. I am in otherwise perfect health and a runner and triathlete. Dr. Lawrie in Houston, TX can repair the valve. How soon should I have the valve repaired or should I wait for the onset of symptoms?
