White people are blamed for slavery because they were the main ones who owned slaves and treated them atrociously- lynching, beating, raping and murdering them. However, I do not hate White people for anything. Slavery is long gone. I think that the problem is that remnants of slavery have been left behind in the form of racism, racial slurs, environmental, political and social discrimination. If you read some of the questions and answers on here, many Whites as well as other races, are yet racist against Black people. I cannot explain to you how completely horrifying it is to read some of the things on here and know that we all have really not traveled so far. Every time I get on yahoo answers and I come to the "Culture" section, there is someone being racist against Blacks and Blacks only. Sooner or later, that type of behavior takes a toll on a person and they decide to exact revenge. There will be backlash from the Black community because we have never been people that take things lying down. I do not support, condone or agree with the hatred amongst the races that I witness occurring within this site on a daily basis. However, I do understand it from a Black person's point of view and a non-racist White person's point of view. Non-racists Whites are tired of being blamed for things that are uncontrollable and that they do not support. Black people are fed-up with reading the racist slurs and hatred from SOME racist White people on this site and thus, when they reach a question from a non-racist White person, it is difficult for them to differentiate one from the other. Also, sometimes, they have read so many hateful and cruel questions/answers from racist White people that their hostility is up and they are willing & ready to go off on ALL White people. I too can identify with their feelings but I try to keep them in check. One day, I read so many racist comments that I wanted to go out & kill "Whitey" lol. I wouldn't do this of course, but, I seriously considered it for a split second. It is hard to understand someone else's viewpoint unless you can place yourself in their shoes. Unfortunately, many of the angry Black people on here have shoes that are specifically my size. Hope this helps!
