I'm not really sure how to go about this one so any help would be incredible. The question is as follows: a hydrate of copper (II) chloride has the formula CuCl2.xH20. The water in a 3.41 g sample of the hydrate was driven off by heating. The remaining sample had a mass of 2.69 g. Find the number of waters of hydration (x) in the hydrate. I worked with this for a while and got two different answers (2 and 4). If you could show me the correct steps it would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
