Sad piano pieces/piano heavy songs?
I am looking for a piano piece or piano heavy
song to play in front of my school. It doesn't need to be classical, but It needs to have a melancholy feel to it, a sense of vulnerabilty, sadness, maybe with a dash of hope? Something like The river runs through you by yiruma? Or something Bon iver, sufjan Stevens, the middle east ish. Sorry, I don't know many classical composers. I am not an amazing pianist but pick things up quickly if I like what I am playing.
Something like this:
I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me out.
P.s I will be playing in front of someone I have loved for 4 years and have never told. I kindo wanted an emotional sad piece... As our situation is complicated.

It's good that you asked this question if you don't know many classical composers. There are many good emotional and sad pieces to play for the piano that are indeed classical music.
A heavy and sad piece would be Chopin's Winter Wind etude in a minor, his Ocean etude in c minor, opus 25, number 12, his revolutionary etude in C minor, and Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody Number 2. These are all pieces that are very emotional, heavy, and dramatic at the same time that are sad for the most part, but touching at the same time. These are beautiful pieces worth listening to.
If you want an easier piece, Chopin's Waltz in C sharp minor would also be very heavy and pretty but that is also sad. It's great that you were looking for a sad piece, because that is what attracts many people to like you.
Best wishes, and I hope you do a great job for playing for the guy you like. I hope everything goes well and that he comes to like you.
P.S.- Don't forget to tell him your feelings after you talk to him. But make sure you play first.Source(s): 8 years of piano experience; have played all of these pieces
