Subsidized Student Loan for Med School Student?

My daughter is going to medical school after the summer. Someone told me if she filed her 2012 tax return as independent (not being claimed as dependent), it would be easier to receive subsidized loan (pay interest after her graduation.) Is this true?

Medical students (or any graduate or professional student) are not eligible for subsidized loans. It doesn't matter how you or she files her taxes.

No, only undergraduate students are eligible for subsidized loans. How she files her taxes has no effect on her financial aid eligibility.
