TV can't connect to PC?

I have a Toshiba TV and a Dell PC.

I'm trying to connect the two with a VGA cable but the monitor is not working with the PC. I have put the TV in the PC-mode and have restarted both devices. On the PC's boot-up the TV does display the intro of Windows 7 (the starting windows animation) but goes blank before the log in page.

If anyone can help, I will appreciate it.

Make sure your PC's screen resolution is set to something the TV can support, such as 1200x720 (720p) or 1920x1080p (1080p) If it's set to something else the TV probably won't understand what to do with it, and will just display a blank page.

(the startup page is set to 640x480 - another resolution the TV can support.)

Without knowing all the specs of your computer, it's difficult to advise you, but ideally if your video card only has DB-15 (VGA) then it's probably pretty dated, and there is a distinct possibility that the card you're using won't support either 1080p or HDCP. I would honestly recommend upgrading your video card to a more modern one. If you have an AGP or PCI Express slot in your computer, you should have no problem finding a card that works. If you're not a gamer and only looking to play video on the TV, I would recommend something inexpensive, such as an ATI HD 6570. They can be had for less than $75, and being a lower power card you shouldn't have to worry about replacing your power supply, and you'll get all the connections you need, such as DVI, HDMI, and/or display port.
