People always say to volunteer at a stable which is great when there are a lot of full care barns looking for help. In my area, no one hires outside help as most are partial care. If that's more your situation, you need to talk to your current instructor about doing barn chores for her in exchange for more riding time.
Watch, learn and jump in to take care of the horses without having to be told every little detail. I only let students work in exchange for riding when they are the really responsible kids who clean buckets and stalls, groom horses, sweep floors or knock down cobwebs without me having to tell them (OR have to show them how over and over). The kids who just stand around and wait to be asked to do something are the ones no one has the time to deal with. Watch your instructor sometime and see all the things she is responsible for. If you can take some of the pressure off of her, you will be very welcome at the stable.
