Evidence of the earth being round and how can you check it for yourself?

Earth is an oblate spheroid; it is slightly wider at the equator than it is pole to pole. You can confirm this by looking at a photograph of the horizon taken by a high altitude aircraft.

Measure a very large triangle with theodolite. You will find that the internal angles are more than 180 degrees. Look up spherical trigonometry. you will see this occurs when a triangle is drawn on a sphere.

Use a level. Put a laser on it. Fire a level beam out over the ocean. Measure height from beam to surface of water. Go out two miles and measure height from beam to surface of water. You will see a difference of well over a foot, taking into consideration tides and waves. If no tides and waves on a dead calm day it will be around 16 inches.

The Moon: Whenever there is a lunar eclipse there is a shadow that can be seen on the Moon. That shadow is the Earth and the shadow is round: telling us the Earth is round.
Ships and the horizon: If you look at the horizon and look at a boat coming towards the shore it does not just appear out of the horizon, which it what would happen if the Earth was flat but it appears to rise out of the sea, a phenomenon that shows the Earth is round.
Constellations: The constellations of stars you see in the sky vary depending where on Earth you are. The explanation for this is the Earth is round and depending on where you are constellations are above, near or below (cannot be seen) the horizon. On a flat Earth you would be able to see all constellations.
Shadows and sticks: Stick a stick in the ground and it will produce a shadow. If you stick two different sticks in the ground in different locations the sticks will produce the same shadow. In practice, the two sticks produce different shadows and this is because the Earth is round.
Height: The higher you go up the further away the horizon becomes. If you stood on the ground you would see a horizon. If you were on the twentieth floor of a building the horizon you saw would be much further away. This is the result of the Earth’s curvature. On a flat Earth a higher vantage point would not enable you to see further.
Flying: If you have been on a long-haul flight you may have noticed that planes can fly for a long time without falling on the edge of the Earth. Indeed, planes can circle the Earth without stopping. If you look out of a planes windows you can see the curvature of the Earth at the horizon.
Other Planets: All other planets we have ever observed are spherical. We also know how planets form. If all other planets are spherical why should the Earth be any different?
Time Zones: At any one time it is light in certain parts of the world and dark in others. This happens because the Earth is round. If it were flat we would have sunshine all the time. Even if you wanted to argue the Sun is like a spotlight only shining on one part of the Earth we would be able to see it even in not directly shining above us.
Gravity: Gravity pulls you towards it. On a sphere the centre of gravity is in the centre of the sphere and anything on the sphere is pulled downwards towards it, exactly how gravity acts on Earth. On a flat plane the centre of gravity would be in the middle and anything towards the edges would be pulled sideways towards the centre and not down. This is not how gravity acts on Earth.
Images form Space: There are numerous images taken by astronauts and satellites from space of Earth and these show the Earth is round.

Above the equator, Travel straight NORTH, and mark your path, Move west 25 miles and do it again. Measure the distance between starting points and measure the distance between end points. The paths will be closer together the further NORTH you go. Surveyors who lay out township grids know this---and is proof the Earth surface is a sphere. The lines will converge at a rate consistent with those drawn on a spherical surface The angles of Big triangles drawn on the surface of the Earth have degrees greater than 180 also. further proof.

Watch a total lunar eclipse is one way. The only shape that can cast a ciruclar shdow no matter which direction the light comes from is a a shore.
Go to the top floor of very tall building and look toward the horizon. The hight of your eyes ABOVE the ground determines how for away the horizon is It's about 3 miles for someones whose eye highit is 5 feet 7 inches above ground level. The curvature of the horizon is very slight from Pike's Peak, but it is there. and i was nowhere NEAR being 6 feet tall, I never have been, when i was 11 10 or 11 years old..
Take flight in plane and look at the horizon..Even a small prvate plane or even a glider you should be able to see a SLIGHT curvature of the horizon.
Watch a boat disappear over the horizon large lake or ocean.
Of course for some people, nothing will ever convince them that the Earth really is round, spherical, or slightly oblate spheroid. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans knew Earth was spherical. So did the Ancient Chinese or the not so ancient Chinese who discovered north and south America decades before the most Europeans.. So did the Norse.

There is good reason to believe that it is round, though it is difficult to check it for yourself because of some difficult math that is involved.
For many years our scientists have produced detailed listings of where and when cosmological events will occur _in the future._ That is, they have made predictions of where and when stars and planets will appear in the sky. They have predicted where and how the moon will appear from different parts of the Earth. They have predicted the times and locations for the paths of solar and lunar eclipses. And they have been shown to be correct over and over and over again. These events are easily observable by most any human on the planet. They are clearly not some sort of conspiracy. They are real events.
How many such predictions can be made with a flat Earth model? Can a flat Earth model predict when the next solar eclipse will occur and the correct path of the line of totality?
OK, so you have one bunch of people who are using the spheroid Earth model and _consistently_ coming up with correct predictions and another group who think that the Earth is flat and have no predictions. Which should you trust?

One of the best documented methods for determining the Earth's roundness was first performed by the ancient Greeks. This was achieved by comparing the shadows of sticks in different locations. When the sun was directly overhead in one place, the stick there cast no shadow. At the same time in a city around 500 miles north, the stick there did cast a shadow.
If the Earth were flat then both sticks should show the same shadow because they would be positioned at the same angle towards the sun. The ancient Greeks found the shadows were different because the Earth was curved and so the sticks were at different angles. They then used the difference in these angles to calculate the circumference of the Earth. They managed to get it to within 10% of the true value – not bad for around 250 B.C.

the coriolis effect is a measurable force ... they make instruments for aircraft that can measure and correct for it .. buy yourself one lol ..

The earth isn't really round. It's oval - just slightly. There. I saved you a trip.
