I'm the same as you. I don't feel the need to have a gun for self defense. However, I still respect the right of my fellow Americans to own one whether it be for collection, for hunting/sport, for self defense... whatever. It is their right as Americans. I think for many people it isn't even about feeling safe, they just want one anyways. Most Americans aren't paranoid or anything like that.
Now make no mistake, I still support common sense reform that mandates thorough background and psychological checks at the national level, banning military style weapons, bump stocks, raising the federal age to 21. But given all that, I still support the 2nd amendment because it is our right - and whether or not I use it or not, doesn't mean I want to take it away from other Americans!
