I'd like to know why they keep saying the Grand Canyon is millions of years old when we already know for a fact it is 4,400 years old?

I assume you are one of those churchy people who believe god made everything a few thousand years ago and then planted evidence such as dinosaur bones to make sceptics of religion believe the earth is a billion years old. I suppose you also believe I the Easter Bunny and Santa.

It is absurd to claim that the Grand Canyon is only 4400 years old. Who told you that. It is far from being a fact. Bishp James Ussher said creation was in 4004 B.C., so the world is 6022 years old, according to him.

Most scientists do not believe the age listed in the bible. And by the way, if you are going to pull the bible out, the world is 5778 years old. You could at least try to get that right.

Geological dating for the Grand Canyon was calculated using the rules of uniformity. That what ever forces are at work now are the same forces at work when it was formed.
There is a "set" rate for the deposit of soil and a constant used for erosion.
By using math it is able to calculate how long it would take to form if the present conditions were the same at all times.

When you say "we" do you arrogantly refer to yourself in the third person plural like an ancient monarch or do you refer to yourself and other people? It is incorrect to use a personal subject pronoun if the antecedent is not known. It is not and so no one knows to whom you refer.

The "we" cannot be a large group. All credible scientists, the overwhelming majority of atheists*, most Christians and a large number of Jews know that the Grand Canyon is millions of years old. It is only wilfully ignorant creationists (a very small percentage of Christians and Jews) that believe they can date anything from works of fiction, e.g. Biblical works.

*The minority who do know will be atheists who have no interest in science but they would certainly be open to the evidence if ever they took an interest in this.

If you are referring to Biblical timings then the Grand Canyon must be a youngster, since, according to one reckoning of Biblical timings, the Earth was created in BC 6006, thus over 8,000 years ago.

It's possible that the flood during Noah's time carved it out, but it's also possible that the Grand Canyon is millions of years old. So, don't be so sure of yourself.

The earth was covered in water before Noah's time
