I've read quite a few of his answers over the years. I find him to be quite an agreeable fellow, nowhere near as nasty as some of the other regulars can be, and some might say that I'm not exactly the nicest bloke on the face of the Earth either. I also find his answers to be pretty informative and thorough and I think most people would say that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to the ins and outs of composition and publishing. I also like that he tends to add a lot of little personal touches to what he posts, so he definitely doesn't come off as dry. He's got a sense of humour, he's opinionated but fair, and he's respectful to others. I have never felt for a second that his intention was to "scam" anyone.
He knows that writing is a skill. And like any skill, to get good at it one has to devote a lot of time to it and have a very solid understanding of everything that goes into it. Everyone has to acquire knowledge from somewhere. You have to learn how to write, then keep going and develop and progress. What's inaccurate about saying that learning how to write from people who have a lot of knowledge about writing is the best way to begin? Obviously people that are really good at something want to be compensated for doing it. Did you pay for driving lessons or just annoy everybody you know and ask them to teach you in their spare time? Should we just let unemployed people work as math teachers or music teachers because they'd work for a lot less than people who paid for a degree in Mathematics or Music? That's absurd.
And you don't have any knowledge of whether he's published or not. He likes to come here in his free time, lots of people have posted a greater number of answers on these forums, and many of them get all sorts of things done when they can devote attention to them.
You're not supposed to call other users out by name here, it isn't allowed and we generally only do it when we're referencing them to praise them, not to criticise them, so you're actually out of bounds here. I don't report people because I believe that should only be done if they've seriously breached proper etiquette, but this question could easily be reported. You might think about offering him an apology, or editing it to remove his name.
