Why do people like the wizard of oz movie? It’s really weird and creepy?

    My aunt would actually punish her kids with it when they where younger lol if they were bad she would make them watch it.

    It relates with children and the child in adults. Really expansive with its imagination. Good acting and believable characters you can have feelings for, even as a kid. Glorious technicolor.

    It's iconic for its role in cinema history which inevitably gives it a following. Add high production values and you have a film that appeals to nostalgia and, presentation wise at least, holds up pretty well as time goes on, and you have a film that can appeal to a pretty wide spectrum of people.

    Personally it grates my nerves, but that's neither here nor there.
