If Trump could shut down the border all this time then why argue for a wall?

Drumpf should’ve done that long ago.

I’m anti-wall, but there are ways and means of legitimately crossing the border—which he is considering stopping, thereby ensuring—that everyone who comes over is illegal!

That's not going to stop illegals.

Just like a gun ban won't stop guns.

Because it does not need to be closed forever and it is probably a last resort.

Trump has no proposal to intelligently deal with the influx of asylum seekers. His border closing and wall are simple-minded, bigoted solutions to a serious problem.

Shutting down the border would be a temporary solution. Having a wall would be a constant deterrent to illegals, and make the Border Patrols job easier.

*sigh* When you shut down the border you shut down all check points that allow people through the border. It doesn't mean it prevents people from still getting past as they can still go through the area's with no wall, fence, ect..

N.Korea has closed borders, yet a lot of their people still escape.
