Do you think we should keep Americans out of Canada?
Before Americans started coming into Canada in the past 15 years, we had a beautiful, free, liberal country. Then Americans started coming from the Midwest, bible belt, etc and brought their bigotry.
1. Protesting against abortion. Saw a protest in Ontario, talked to some and many were Americans
2. Angry that we had an age of consent of 14, which never caused a problem in Canada for over a 100 years. Our teens were more mature then their American counterparts, had better sexual education, etc. So it was not an issue. Again, Americans who came were protesting and displaying ignorance "why is the age of consent so low" etc.
3. Support Conservatives such Dough Ford. Fords plans include legalization of hand guns, privatize healthcare and social security, removal of sexual education from school, all abstinence teaching (which has been proven not to work). Typical GOP republican mentality
4. Want the death penalty and there is now less enfaces on rehab and more on punishment. Something that has been proven not to work.
5. Angry school teach sex ed and that LGBTQ people should be accepted all in the name of "religion." So now they are taking their kids out of school and home schooling. again, typical Republican bigotry
If this is what they want why dont they just stay in the US. Why do they want to destroy our freedom and humanity.
Do you think we should at least curtail some of these conservatives from coming into Canada or at the least not let them have a say in our issues?

Americans have been coming up here for much longer than that. And everybody I know who lives along the border goes to the US all the time.

No way . We need more Americans They need to know that they are welcome . They need to know that there are plenty of places to visit and plenty of things to do They need to know their dollars go a lot further in Canada . They need to try our Beer and poutine .They need to know that they can go to a church or mall or casino or for a walk without some idiot taking a shot at them . They need to know they can sit back and enjoy a joint without being arrested or harassed . They need to know that coming to Canada means they get to lay back and relax and have a good time

Americans, of course! I was wondering why our free liberal clean society started going to hell exactly 15 years ago. It was so nice and clean and liberal and abortion-y here, and then "they" started showing up. Life was good before those dammed Yankees found out about us, wasn't it? Just another example of immigrants destroying everything.
We get to keep their TV shows though, right? And their fast food outlets? Oh, and their movies? Great, then let's built that wall!Source(s): I love baiting young liberals. It's fun, and totally effortless.

All the things you have listed are things that need to be openly and honestly discussed in public. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. People like you think legislating stuff away solves the problem. All legislating stuff away does is hide the problem and sooner or later it will boil over. The main reason why Ford even got elected was because people were frustrated with the previous Liberal government. Most people don't really care about ideology.

You should build a wall and get Mexico to pay for it.

Yanks have been crossing the line since the day the line was made 200 years ago.

Fellow Canadian, you sound a little heated, and more than a little misguided.
First of all let me say this. Americans are much the same to you and me. We are not better than them, and they are not better than us. All that separates us is a border- which doesn't even have a wall along it, might I add.
Our kids aren't any better than theirs. We have lazy, ignorant, stupid and druggy kids too, don't you worry. So, no we aren't more mature than them. I have recently passed through the BC school system, and our sex ed is severely lacking, so much so that I heard a grade 12 boy talking about how crazy it is that girls "only have one hole to do all those jobs". Yeah, very bright, academic mind. He won a free (4 year) ride to UNBC.
You claim that we have never had a problem with consent in over a hundred years, correct? Says who? You? Go out and meet people. One of my best friends became a mom at 15. It was not planned. Just because we have a lower population, and are much more spread out than the rest of the world, doesn't make us immune to the rest of the worlds sufferings.
Like many places, we used to have the death penalty. It is not a new concept.
Teaching LQBTQ+ acceptance is not, in any way, prompted by religion. It is prompted by modern minds working together to make a better world for everyone. And it is a important subject to be taught in schools, as it is a "cause" for bullying, both inside of school and out.
And perhaps the most important thing in this comment: Do not forget that Canadians and Americans are basically the same people. We both immigrated here, to the same wild continent, from all over the world. We both ignored the plight of the blacks and the Native Americans. We fought side by side in both world Wars. And we share the same language. Don't believe us better than them. They may have some really f-d up things happening in their country rn, but that does not mean that the people are bad.
Besides, you said it yourself, our country is only 100 years old. Think of how many Americans crossed the border in search of land or gold? Many Canadians probably have American ties.

We should build a see-through wall made of Canadian steel and make the Americans pay for it.

Apart from the fact this is insanely racist, something I didnt expect from Canadians who are known for their open-mindedness to other ethnicities, People will go where ever they please. Change isn't always bad. Almost every country is built on the help of others. And you have to keep in mind not every American is like that. It's like that ridiculous notion of all Muslims being terrorists. Just because one American does something or a few Americans, it does not represent all of America. I can't believe this is even a question but there's the answer lol.
