It's getting harder to say who spends the most money given the number of groups who spend "independent" of the campaign.

What can safely be said is that if one candidate has money and the other doesn't, then the candidate with money will win. If both candidates have enough money (or outside groups pour in enough money), then it probably does not matter who has more money. At that point, it's possible to win by getting the most bang for the buck (in terms of proper split between advertising and field work, proper splits between various types of ad and various types of field work, and simply figuring out the right message for the mood of the electorate).

No. Not at all.........there are many cases of clearly richer candidates not even being able to BUY votes.

Being rich is no guarantee........or Bill Gates of Jeff Bezos would be president.

If that were true, then Clinton and Romney would have won.

The Hillary Crime Syndicate spent much more than Trump; but underestimated their unlawful voting contingent.

That is why the big push to get more unlawful into the country before the next elections, and the NEED to not concentrate them in just Sanctuary Cities.

ALMOST always. In the USA, the rich run the country. Our elected "representatives" do not work in congress, but instead spend their time getting re elected. They draw obscenely large contributions from the ultra rich. They take care if these contributors interests. The voters have no voice or value, to them. Since the midst of the Romney campaign, they have freely admitted to this. Just as the RNC publicly stated at that time, "If we tell a lie enough times, it becomes the truth". This was publicly stated policy during the Romney campaign. It hasn't gotten any better. The best fund raiser usually wins.

    Time for a change?
