My friend told me, "I was not born yesterday. But even if I was, I was not born with my ears and eyes shut."?

What did he mean?

I was not born yesterday - is a phrase that means I am not naive and unaware of whats going on

I was not born with my ears and eyes shut - means I can see what is going on

Basically your friend is saying - I can see what is going on and I know what it means

He is saying (even if he was young) that he is not stupid. It was possibly on response to something you (or someone else) said that suggested he was.

That he's not blind or stupid he doesn't believe whatever u said that made him answer that way.
