It greatly depends! I've had friends who've had an aquarium for over 20 years! Even more! I used to rescue fish (over 250 in the past 5 yrs) so I never really had an aquarium for long, but I plan on keeping my newest one for years and years to come! It's a 29 gallon heavily-planted aquarium for Honey, a sweet 9 month old female runt Betta that looks like she's 2 months old lol. She's extremely happy in her new "mansion" and she'll be getting friends soon! It'll probably be stocked with 2 Nerite Snails and MAYBE a couple of Shrimp. If I chose Shrimp, it would probably be between Orange Rilis and Red Crystals. If I could find high-quality Ghost Shrimp, however, I'd choose them. I might also consider some other animals like Black Devil Snails, Amano Shrimp, and Kuhli Loaches, but I'm not exactly sure yet. Like I mentioned before, I plan on keeping this tank for years to come (probably around a decade). If you take proper care and precautions, you'll be having a tank for years!! Good luck!
