Why do answers have to be at least 15 characters long now?

As mentioned a number of times already since the minimum was initiated, here in the Yahoo Answers subcategory, having a character minimum (which the site had years ago, then did away with) reduces simple point gaming answers as well as chat questions which typically only need a simple yes/no answer.
Considering the site was designed for knowledge seeking questions, it makes sense that the answers to such questions would require much more than yes/no so a 15 character minimum is far less than the length most quality answers to such questions would be.

To stop point gaming, a serious problem here.

There are spammers who post only "maybe', "yes", "no", or a single character referred to as "Place Holders", such as a period, as annoyance value or for Points (aka Points Gaming).
Yahoo! is looking to have REAL Answers with meaning posted to the questions.
A continuing problem is posting questions that should have common knowledge answers, or trolling.

To stop people from point gaming and if given a yes or no answer explains why it was a yes or no answer.

Because too many people are point scoring with useless answers.
Question."What are some reasons why my cars engine is running so poorly?"

It's yet another lazy ineffectual attempt to control gaming and trolling behavior when it's actual human moderation that is needed (well that and getting rid of the anonymous, blocking and reporting features - those features do more to encourage bad behavior than reduce it in my considered opinion based on many years of experience with this site).
