Yes, just like breathing pure O2 molecules will kill you.

The closest we normally get to 'pure' water is reactor-grade water, that is made for insertion into a nuclear reactor.

We used to drink it. Or make coffee out of it, and it made great coffee.

Does pure water happen naturally? No.

    Will it hurt us? No.

Unless that's ALL you consume, water, even some heavy water, is ok with your body.

If you drink truly pure H2O (but we can just call that water, you know), you would get sick because you would trigger reverse osmosis in your stomach and intestines. I don't know if you could drink enough to die from it.

The simple theory here is that nature abhors imbalance. When you eat, the cells in your digestive system absorb nutrients due to the "chemical potential" difference in which the mineral content of the stomach is highly concentrated with respect to the naturally lower mineral content of your cells. But if you drank totally purified water, like double- or triple-distilled water, the mineral content of your cells would be far higher than that of the water you just drank and the minerals of your cells would move in the other direction, flooding the stomach with "leached" nutrients and draining those nutrients from the cells. It would act very much like a chemical burn. Even though the cells have walls, those walls are semi-permeable... meaning that things can pass through them slowly. Things like minerals and nutrients.

No, you wouldn't die. But I understand what you mean.

Pure water is not naturally occurring.

Well, you can distill water. You might not get all the impurities out, but you should be able to get most of them. Pure water is surprisingly not fatal who are comprised of up to 60% water.

well h2o is water....do you mean distilled water? distilled has no other chemicals in it. try drinking it. you can...but it's disgusting.

Of course not, you would not die. Why would you?

The reason why it is nearly impossible to get perfectly pure water is that it would always manage to dissolve something. When it is not the CO2 and oxygen/nitrogen form the air, it would be minute concentration of the metal or whatever else the container is made with.

it would take the salt from your body by osmosis

    No, that's just water

It is possible to die from drinking too much water, but you have try really hard over a long time to do that.

It doesn't take a scientist to make pure water. Distilled water has no other molecules in it. And most people don't like the taste of distilled water. They miss the minerals that naturally occur in tap water and well water and river water.
