The name of Hitler party was Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei abbreviated NSDAP),commonly referred to in English as the Nazi Party Nazi, the informal and originally derogatory term for a party member, abbreviates the party's name (Nationalsozialist Members of the party referred to themselves as Nationalsozialisten (National Socialists), rarely as Nazis. The term Parteigenosse (party member) was commonly used among Nazis,
The term was in use before the rise of the party as a colloquial and derogatory word for a backward peasant, an awkward and clumsy person. It derived from Ignaz, a shortened version of Ignatius, which was a common name in the Nazis' home region of Bavaria.
In 1933, when Adolf Hitler assumed power in the German government, the usage of "Nazi" diminished in Germany, although Austrian anti-Nazis continued to use the term, and the use of "Nazi Germany" and "Nazi regime" was popularised by anti-Nazis and German exiles abroad.
The name Nazi has nothing to do with Ashkenazi Jews whose name is derives from the biblical figure of Ashkenaz, the first son of Gomer, son of Japhet, son of Noah, and a Japhetic patriarch in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10)

Either a troll or someone who is really that ignorant. 'Nazi' is the German short version of National Socialism, as espoused by the National Socialist German Workers' Party led by Hitler.

I think it's a German thing and it's purely coincidental. I understand the Bernie Sanders types who opposed the Nazis were called Sozis. Not like mainstream Democrats in America, their ideas are just plain weird by Western standards.

Nazi, the informal and originally derogatory term for a party member, abbreviates the party's name (Nationalsozialist), and was coined in analogy with Sozi, an abbreviation of Sozialdemokrat (member of the rival Social Democratic Party of Germany). Members of the party referred to themselves as Nationalsozialisten (National Socialists), rarely as Nazis.
