has anyone a hedgehog for a pet. are they prickly to hold.?

    They can be, yes. They are also each unique. Some are nearly impossible to get to warm up to you and will ball up and spike whenever you are near. Others are more easily tamed and will allow you to hold them. When they are ok with you holding them, their quills lay flat and are not prickly. They are prickly when they spike up their quills (when frightened).

    They do have quills but their are ways to hold them with no discomfort.

    I do strongly suggest before considering a hedgie pet, do your homework well,,they may just be the sort of pet you don't expect or meet with your lifestyle.
