Solving the equation x = 22 and so the age of Gina is 19 years.

3 Gina + 20 = 77, so Gina = (77-20)/3 = 19

• The real problem is that they are all women! If they were men, you could just ASK them how old they are!

Let's take Rachelle's age. Let's call it r.

Gina's age is r-3

Kamal is r - 3 + 17 or r + 14

So the total of all their ages is

r + r - 3 + r + 14 = 77

(The nice thing is this is all addition and subtraction so we don't need parentheses anywhere!)

So that's 3r - 3 + 14 = 77

So 3r + 11 = 77

So 3r = 66

r = 33 That's Rachelle's age, 33 years

Gina is 3 years younger than Rachelle, so she is 30.
