    Because he was good

  • His trailblazing ability and his versatility on guitar(Fender).

He used Stratocasters mostly for touring, because they're cheap & easy to smash &/or burn. Most of his recording was done on Gibson's - 335's, Flying V's, Les Pauls.

Because the libtarded media wants to give that accolade to a black man. In reality, men like Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, and Slash have far surpassed Jimi Hendrix.

Like Hell! Slash is a joke, Van Halen overrated, & Clapton himself admits Hendrix (& Jeff Beck) could (& do) play rings around him. (B.T.W.: "Libtard" is one too mentally deranged to perceive the obvious advantage of the liberal philosophy, without which we would still be living in caves.)

Generally, he isn't considered that. At the time in a VERY limited musical area he was quite rightly considered exceptional.

Jimi Hendrix was not the greatest guitarist in the world but his guitar playing is very influential. He was very talented and inspired some of the guitarists who play in rock and metal bands.

...great guitarists that are much more talented than Hendrix's playing.

There are lots of people who have very limited record collections/haven't heard anything other than rock?

He was great, but I wouldn't consider him the greatest.

So who is/was greatest in your opinion, & why? Why better than Hendrix?

You had to listen to him live, he was great.

Saw him in Rockville Maryland a month or two before his death, very entertaining.

That is not a universally held opinion, as you imply.

I heard a story that there was a piece too difficult for Eric Clapton to play, but Hendrix could play it behind his back.

Hurricain - Beck. He's admitted it himself, several times from 1967 to 2018.
