The media are always reporting about the super-rich: Honestly, how does knowing about them benefit our soul?

learning that being a conservative actually damages your soul is knowledge that would benefit us all, but being constantly told about who's the richest won't help any of us.

Think of that envy-creating spread 'Sunday Times Rich List' (UK only) - 1989, introduced to all two years after the Black Monday Market Crash, with people who shun publicity and try their damnedest to hide their wealth - with the Daily Mail also jumping on the bandwagon, hissing with racism at the Arabs and Africans - with the latter who had scraped in.

The mentioning of non-western beings (who have amassed billions) usually will get many of us green-eyed and willing to make the sort of comments to tabloids that we would never dream of doing out on the street.

Your kids may very well be retarnded but that will probably have nothing to do with you marring your step brother.

The media reports on things that are uncommon and titillate. They don't tell stories about a man stopping to help a stranger with a flat tire because that's common and boring. They tell the story about the one-in-a-million bad guy that stops and assaults someone trying to change a tire. The media doesn't report on my lifestyle and income because it is common and boring. They report on the super rich because they are rare and (for some) exciting.
