are Jill and Gill pronounced the same way?

    As nicknames for Jillian/Gillian, yes.

    If Gill is a nickname for Gilbert, or as in the gills on a fish, no.

      Yes, as girls' names. For the rare males called "Gill" the g should be hard, as in "gold".

    They can be like in Gillian, but the J is usually pronounced like in jar and the G like in girl.

    Yes - if its a woman/ girl - Gill is short Gillian is pronounced the same as Jill

    If both are used as female, then yes. They are short for Jillian/Gillian.

    If the male form is used for Gill or it is a surname, then the G is usually hard
