What Lutherans think about Mary having more children? did she or she didn t?
- Bobby JimLv 711 months ago
I'm not a Lutheran, but Scriptures indicate Mary had other children after Jesus. In the Gospel of Luke, 2:7 Luke records that Mary "brought forth her first-born son," not her only son. Other scripture passages name several of Jesus' half-siblings.

Pretty sure most Lutherans accept that the brothers and sisters of Jesus were Mary's biological children.

That Jesus had siblings is clearly indicated in the Gospels. Luke’s Gospel refers to Jesus as Mary’s firstborn, implying that she later bore other children. Luke 2:7
Mark’s Gospel reports that some in the city of Nazareth equated Jesus with his siblings, regarding him as nothing special.
They asked: Aren’t James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon his brothers? Don’t his sisters still live here in our town? Mark 6:3
If Jesus were Mary’s only child, would those Nazarenes have said what they did? On the contrary, some of them likely witnessed Mary’s pregnancies with their own eyes. They knew firsthand that Jesus was one of many children born to Mary.
Statements to the effect that Jesus was Mary’s firstborn, and that Joseph had no intercourse with her until she gave birth to a son, also support the view that Joseph and Mary had other children. Mt 1:25
After Jesus’ birth, Joseph and Mary had other children, Jesus’ half brothers and sisters.
That is evident from the question inhabitants of Nazareth later asked about Jesus: Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Matthew 1:25; 13:55, 56; Mark 6:3
We can conclude from this that Jesus’ immediate family consisted of his parents, four brothers, and at least two sisters.

True Christians, in addition to believing in the word of God, as it is written in the Holy Bible, have had their direct experiences with the Holy Spirit of God!
Therefore, no religion can prevail over their experiences, because it does not derive from a religion, but from the confirmation of God, with his answers.
Having said that, we believe in Mary, Our Lady, who conceived from her virginity, by virtue of the miracle of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ.
So Mary was chosen by God to accomplish the work of Salvation of Jesus Christ, the Lord!
Therefore, Mary was a virgin when she had given birth to Jesus, which does not exclude that, Joseph, her husband, was an old man with a stick, but, was a young man of the people of God, of Israel.
Is it absurd to believe in religion that God, from an old man named Joseph to a young woman to marry her?
God uses the Young Joseph, to give it to a young woman, Mary, to give birth to Jesus Christ, through the virtue of the Holy Spirit of God.
Let's read how the birth of Jesus was:
The birth of Jesus Christ happened in this way.
Mary, his mother, had been promised to Joseph, and before they came to be together, she found herself pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph her husband, who was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to infamy, proposed to leave her secretly. 20 But while he had these things in his mind, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary, your wife, with you; for what is born in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 All this was done, that what was said by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled:
23 "The virgin shall be pregnant, and shall bring forth a son,
which will be named Emmanuel."
which translated means, "God with us."
24 Joseph arose from sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took his wife with him; 25 and had no conjugal relationship with her until she had given birth to a son; and named him Jesus.
Verse 25 clearly states that Joseph and Mary did not have marital relations, that is to say, sexual relations, until Mary had given birth to Jesus Christ.
So, after Jesus Christ was born, Joseph and Mary had a normal married relationship, in fact, in this holy writing of Mark, speaks to us of the name of 4 brothers, including sisters, born after Jesus Christ, the Lord!
Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses, of Judah and Simon? Don't your sisters stay here with us?" And they were scandalized because of him.
19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
There is some heretical religion, which denies that they were the brothers of Jesus, because the word brothers is given only to those who became disciples, in John, speaks of Disciples, even of brothers, are two distinct and separate things! The brothers of Jesus said to go to Judea, so that his disciples can see the works of Jesus.
So, Mary had other children after the birth of Jesus Christ, the Lord! Jesus was born by the work of the Holy Spirit, Mary's virginity ended with the birth of Jesus.
So, Joseph and Mary had other children, because the work of marriage was legalized by God to two young newlyweds, he was not old, and the girl! Okay!
John 7:1-5 .
7 After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him. 2 But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near, 3 Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. 4 No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.” 5 For even his own brothers did not believe in him.

Never mind the Lutherans. According to the Bible, Joseph and Mary had a normal marriage and sex life. See Matthew 1:25. The Bible refers to Jesus' brothers and sisters (half-siblings).

I doubt if Christianity is true that God will care if you thought Mary was a virgin or not as long as you follow Jesus.

You'll never get RC/Orthodox and Protestants/non denominational to agree.

Doesn't matter what catholics or lutherans say. Mary had sex with Joseph and had children with him after the miracle virgin birth of Jesus. Catholicism teaches works for salvation, which leads to hell.
Nobody can be good enough to avoid hell. The truth is that death leads to immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether the person believed in Jesus for eternal life, or not.
The truth is that Jesus loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing in Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in Jesus to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven when you die, because you believe in Jesus! It is too late to be saved, after death

Most Lutherans believe what the bible teaches....That Mary had several more children after Jesus was born.....James the Good, Jude, Simon and Joses and several sisters – are named in Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3
After Jesus died, James accepted Christ as Savior and God and he became the leader of the Christian Church in Jerusalem (Acts 15:13, 19).
