Talking a break means you take time out away from each other.Maybe a week apart or even longer. The likely reason for it is that the two of you have spent too much time together. At this point the relationship has not ended.

Breaking up means the relationship is over and its time to move on. Yes,there's a difference.

If someone ever asked me to take a break, I’d know right then and there that it's not going to work out in the long run and i’d end the relationship.

Whenever you meet the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with, you’ll know bc they’ll never want to take a break from your relationship. They’ll do the opposite and want to spend as much time with you as possible.

Taking a break means giving the other space to think and be and to make sure that's the relationship you wanted in the first place. It's not permission to date other people or have sex with anyone else. Breaking up, all bets are off. If the person chooses to date other people then so be it. That's the risk you take when you break up. Be careful what you wish for because the other may cross a line during either one that will sever your trust during those times. If the person has been shady then likely they were already cheating. If you're young. Call it quits and someone will find you and be sure of you all the time and not just sometimes. Good luck.

A break is a trial breakup. It means if your partner can't

get with the other person they are interested in, that you

don't know about, they will stick around for a while longer.

There is no difference. If partner says they want to take a break they are dumping you.

They might come back in the future and then it would be up to you if you took them back.

But taking a break is dumped and no different to breaking up.
