We have a family garden. 1 row 200 meters long for vegetables. We let it lay fallow every other year & plant a different row. But family who live close help plant & harvest it. They also help with other farm work as a family. Grandmother has the large plantation. Ours is but a small plantation.

I am too poor to have a place with a vegetable garden

    • There are vacant lots and possibly community gardens you could use.

I plant every year 3 kinds of tomatoes, serrano peppers, Italian curly peppers. I loath the tomatoes at the grocery store, they're pink and tasteless, mine are red, red, red inside and out and sweet. I love fresh salsa with these tomatoes.

I just got back from Farmers' Market. I take many veggies people haven't heard of: purslane, tulsi basil, field cress, sometimes "weeds" like chickweed and sheep sorrel. Many have never heard of kohlrabi. Today I told one of them it was an import from outer space.

No, keep saying we should make one again and never do. Years ago, my husband, planted a garden using the "Square Foot Garden" method. It was fabulous, small area, little or no maintenance AND it yielded a nice crop. Maybe we'll get to it next year? Probably not... Lol...
