People are intended to live surrounded by nature but modern living puts us more and more out of touch with nature, and ultimately with the natural part of ourselves.

I feel this disconnect whenever I have to spend time in a big city. The noise, the crowds, the lack of trees and green spaces, makes me pity people who never leave this artificial existence, and I don't feel like myself until I can return to nature.

Sometimes words you don't understand are very deep and wise, sometimes they're an old man rambling nonsense in an attempt to appear wise. I believe this tends towards the latter.

It was probably copied from Alan Watts.
