Why are liberals against curing birth defects like homosexuality and transsexuality?

After all, we say we know what causes them, so we can detect it and cure it before the baby is born!

Update:

They're caused by an imbalance of hormones while the baby is in the womb, they're NOT genetic. Ergo they ARE birth defects.

Update 2:

All I see are trolls, no one acknowledging that there is no "gay gene" and that we've found statistically significant links between prenatal hormone balance and homosexuality and transsexuality. Given this, we can correct these balances.

Stop being trolls!

then there would be too many conservatives

Dennis Hastert, the longest-serving GOP Speaker of the House ever, went to prison for tax evasion after paying $millions in bribes to more than a dozen teenage boys when he was a wrestling coach. He was legally not a pedophile since the boys were merely underage -- He was just a serial rapist.

It's easier to cure ignorance such as yours.

They don't mind killing people with Downe Syndrome yet they are worth 2 homosexuals. So here's the deal: it's called dysgenics.

We do not precisely know what causes homosexuality and know even less about transexuality.

I am gay, and I will explain. Please learn if the subject interests you at all.

It is a state of being and that is separate from homosexual activity. Although abstaining from sex stops homosexual actions, that is a sacrifice no different from heterosexual. The person is still a homosexual because it is based on desires of love, social bonding, and sex. An actor playing a waiter in a movie is an actor. There are heterosexuals who are "gay for pay". Male-female can perform fornication and anal sex. That is a simple view separating being gay from actions.

Researchers found "the gay gene", but statistics say about 20% of people would be gay and we know that is not correct. Researchers worked with mice and serotonin claiming low levels of serotonin causes homosexuality. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter as a contributor to feelings of well-being and happiness and if affects sexual desire levels, but also sense of smell. They don't know how the mice felt, and only observed activity. It is not repeatable on humans. Another set of research linked homosexuality to enzymes in a mother's womb where the more male children a woman has, the higher chance of homosexuality in younger(later) ones. They studied twins, both fraternal and identical in limited numbers where at least one is gay. About 2/3 of identical twins and 1/3 of fraternal showed both as homosexual. Gay people don't want to be gay and some accept it better than others with a few embracing the difference. Nobody wants to feel shunned and harder to find a partner in life. There may be a link to dominant mother and passive father, but single moms are hugely more common than homosexuality. Religion based gay conversion therapy such as in the very fair movie Boy Erased (2018), with follow-up interviewing a year later, the success rate seems to be about 2% and 98% failure. And also resulting was a 7X rate of teen suicide attempts and extreme depression by many people who have been through it. So some states are banning it as far more harm than good. No psychological treatment is effective. There are genetic propensity links. There are enzyme related links. But, with our advanced knowledge of genetics and psychology, researchers still have no precise cause and no effective treatment.

We do not have the full cause and cannot detect it. Anti-abortion people cringe if we say abort all babies with any "weak genes". Maybe there will be a pre-natal or during pregnancy effective treatment and you can bet liberals will embrace it. The homosexual community will support it, I assure you. The United States does not have effective universal health care nor any plan to test all babies and pregnant women for genes and detailed enzyme testing of amniotic fluids. Requiring it would be a rights question. And, the links are still fuzzy and not agreed upon by experts. Remember, we can't change the genetics, and only can abort babies, but there is enough pushback to even give women choice with their doctors and US States are adding unconstitutional bans just waiting for a change at Supreme Court level to ban all abortions. There is no direct relationship to amniotic fluids even if that might fix some, but we don't know how to fix the imbalance nor are sure what it is.

Can you fairly accept that it isn't a top priority but research does occur. Do you support spending Federal money on research in this area for studies that take about 20 years to get solid results?

If not, can you just be more tolerant?

Per update 2 - Logic fallacy - Statistics do not yield cause and effect and statistically significant is still only stating there could be an effect and is not definitive. On the contrary, it is probably a combination of factors including genetics, womb, and possibly environment growing up as well. I read the research you refer to and follow up research. Thumbs down just says you fail to understand what you read.

I don't troll. And even if proven as amniotic fluids, how would this be fixed in practice. It's not a simple test and no fix was proposed.

Homosexuality is merely evolution disposing of defective gene packages - nothing more. Everything serves evolution - there are no "special" people. The uneducated and other scientific illiterates don't

    understand that.

Those aren't birth defects, and we can't "cure" them, before or after birth.
