Im sorry but that doesnt sound right. England has one £1 pound or £5 pound notes. I know they have coins like we do. Maybe its in coins instead of paper?

    No.

I am an American but it took 10 seconds to learn that £5, £10, £20, and £50 are the only banknotes currently in use in the UK.

    False.

    There are £5- too.

£100 is actually a Scottish bank but allowed to be used in England. And English banknotes are allowed in Scotland.

Technically speaking there are no notes which are legal tender over the UK but they are accepted as that is good for business.
